MARQUETTE, Mich. (AP) — Two brothers from Nigeria pleaded responsible Wednesday to sexually extorting teenage boys and younger males in Michigan and throughout the nation, together with one who took his personal life, a federal prosecutor stated.

Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, of Lagos, Nigeria, every pleaded responsible to conspiring to sexually exploit teenage boys, U.S. Attorney Mark Totten stated in a press release.

The offense has a compulsory minimal sentence of 15 years in jail, Totten stated, and a most penalty of 30 years. A date for sentencing hasn’t been set.

Sexual extortion, or sextortion, entails persuading an individual to ship specific photographs on-line after which threatening to make the pictures public except the sufferer pays cash or engages in sexual favors.

The Ogoshis have been accused of operating a global sextortion ring by which they posed as a lady and which resulted within the suicide of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay of Marquette, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, on March 25, 2022. The Ogoshis, who had beforehand been extradited from Nigeria to face trial, have been remanded to the custody of federal marshals after pleading responsible.
