Five D.C. eating places have been added to the 2024 Michelin Guide, that means Michelin’s secret inspectors advocate them, although they haven’t but earned a score.

They are:

  • Almeda — tiny restaurant with Caribbean dishes in Petworth
  • Balos Estaitorio — restaurant that serves Greek meals in Dupont Circle
  • Mita — Latin American vegetarian restaurant in Shaw
  • Moon Rabbit — chef Kevin Tien’s reboot of his well-liked Vietnamese restaurant in Penn Quarter
  • Omakase — new Japanese restaurant at Barracks Row

The eating places are described by Michelin inspectors as “too good to maintain a secret.”

Being added to the Michelin Guide places these eating places within the working for future Michelin Star rankings or addition to its Bib Gourmand checklist of budget-friendly eating places serving top-notch meals.

The Michelin Guide now lists nearly 140 D.C. eating places which might be advisable.

In all, 25 of these eating places have star-rating standing, together with The Inn at Little Washington, the one top-rated three-star restaurant within the area. Michelin launched the primary D.C. restaurant information in 2016.

Earlier this week, the James Beard Foundation honored three native cooks with James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards.
