In preparation for Tuesday’s NATO Summit in D.C., crews from a contractor put in tall, latticed metal fences on the sidewalk alongside the Ellipse close to the White House.

A small forklift unloaded pallets of the fencing onto the sidewalk on Monday morning whereas crews dragged after which assembled the fencing.

Most of the safety fencing alongside the sidewalk isn’t blocking entry to the sidewalk. It’s operating parallel to the sidewalk to forestall somebody from climbing over it. So pedestrians nonetheless have entry to the sidewalk.

Fencing was already in place across the Mellon Auditorium and Washington Convention Center, the place the summit will happen from July Sept. 11.
