WELL, SOMETHING FUN TO DO WHETHER IT’S SUNNY OR RAINY. YOU NAME THE WEATHER AND THAT’S TO TO DIVE INTO A GOOD BOOK AND THE FRIENDS OF THE TOWSON LIBRARY ARE HERE. THEY ARE HOSTING THEIR ANNUAL BOOK SALE THAT’S COMING UP THIS WEEK, AND IT STARTS ON WEDNESDAY. GOOD MORNING. THANKS FOR BEING HERE. WE HAVE NORA KOTULA AND PAM BROWN LADIES, YOU KNOW WHAT? I’M SO SORRY ABOUT THAT. OKAY, LISTEN, I’VE WORKED WITH YOU LADIES FOR YEARS GETTING THE WORD OUT. THIS IS AN AMAZING SALE. TELL US ABOUT IT. IT’S OUR 27TH ANNUAL BOOK SALE. WE HAD A THREE YEAR BREAK DURING THE PANDEMIC. WE HAVE 18 TO 20,000 BOOKS AND MULTIPLE CATEGORIES AS A WHOLE. FICTION ROOM. WE HAVE THE SALE INTO THE TWO LOWER ROOMS IN THE TOWSON LIBRARY ON YORK ROAD. UM, THE PRICES ARE THE HIGHEST ON WEDNESDAY. ALMOST ALL THE HARDBACKS ARE $5. THEN THERE ARE SOME SPECIAL PRICING EACH DAY. THE BOOK PRICES GO DOWN UNTIL SATURDAY. IT IS $5 A FOOT. THAT’S SO MUCH FUN. YOU SEE, PEOPLE JUST BUY BOOKS LIKE CRAZY ON THAT DAY. THERE’S USUALLY A LINE FOR THIS SALE TO OPEN BECAUSE THE DEALS ARE SO GREAT AND YOU FIND BOOKS THAT ARE ON THE BEST SELLER LIST NOW, WHICH IS CRAZY. WE HAVE LOTS OF BEST SELLERS RIGHT NOW. THE COVENANT OF WATER. UM, ONE COPY OF THE NUMBER ONE BOOK RIGHT NOW, ONE COPY, WHICH IS THE WOMEN BY KRISTIN HANNAH. OH, BOY. SO YOU BETTER GET THERE EARLY FOR THAT. BUT YOUR BOOKS ARE ALL IN GREAT CONDITION. THE SALE IS SUPER IMPORTANT TO HELPING SUPPORT LIBRARY ACTIVITIES. TELL US ABOUT THAT. WHAT DOES THE MONEY GO TOWARD? IT REALLY GOES TO THE PROGRAMING AT THE LIBRARY LEVEL FOR THE FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY. ROBOT CLUBS, THE INTERACTIVE MOVIE. UM, IT’S WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS THE, UM, WHOEVER COMES, THEY WATCH THE MOVIE. I KNOW THEY’VE DONE THE LABYRINTH AND CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, I THINK. AND THERE’S ACTIVITIES TO DO DURING THE MOVIE. EAT. UM, THROW THINGS, DO THINGS. LIKE ALL KINDS OF ACTIVITIES. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF FUN. OH, IT DOES, AND I WANT TO TAKE MY GRANDSONS. YEAH, IF IT’S REALLY COOL. BUT THE BOOK SALES PAID FOR THINGS LIKE EXTRA FURNITURE. SOME OF THE PLANTS, THE PLANTS FOR ELECTRONICS, YOU KNOW, YOU’VE REALLY BEEFED UP WITH THE LIBRARY ITSELF THROUGH FUNDING. CAN’T DO. AND THAT’S WHERE YOU GUYS COME IN WITH THIS BOOK SALE. THIS TAKES ORGANIZATIONS NATION ON A SANTA CLAUS AND ELVES LEVEL HERE TO DO THIS BOOK SALE. IT REALLY DOES. WE’LL BE SO GLAD WHEN THE MONTH OF MAY IS HERE, BECAUSE IT’S OUR ONLY MONTH OFF, SO I BET. AND THE BOOKS ARE ALL DONATED. THEY’RE NOT USED LIBRARY BOOKS. THEY’RE ALL DONATED. THEY’RE IN GOOD CONDITION IN, UM. AND YOU HAVE MORE THAN JUST BOOKS THERE, TOO. WE HAVE CDS, DVDS, AUDIO BOOKS, UM, SPECIAL PRICING. SO IT COULD BE ANYTHING THAT SORT OF LITERATURE ORIENTED IS IN THERE. AND YOU HAVE COIN COLLECTOR BOOKS, YOU HAVE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN, YOU HAVE BOOKS FOR TEENS, YOU HAVE EVERY TYPE OF FICTION BOOK YOU CAN IMAGINE. AND ALSO NONFICTION AS WELL. RIGHT? WE HAVE ABOUT 20 CATEGORIES IN THE NONFICTION. EVERYTHING FROM ANIMALS TO BUSINESS, BIOGRAPHY, HISTORY, MILITARY HISTORY, COOKBOOKS. WE HAVE SUCH A COLLECTION THIS YEAR OF COOKBOOKS. AND YOU COULD IMAGINE WE HAVE AN INCREDIBLY LARGE DONATION OF COOKBOOKS AND CHILDREN’S BOOKS. THIS YEAR. AND PEOPLE COME AND THEY GET GIFTS FOR OTHERS, NOT JUST FOR THEMSELVES, BUT THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP FOR THAT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU KNOW THEY DON’T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO GET FOR THEM OR LOOK AHEAD TO THE HOLIDAYS. WELL, AND WE GET HOMESCHOOLERS, PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING TO BEEF UP THEIR THEIR OWN LIBRARY. IT’S IT’S A LOT. AND THEY COME YEAR AFTER YEAR. IT IS LIKE A COMMUNITY EVENT. LAST YEAR IT WAS LIKE CNR OLD FRIENDS BACK. THEY THEY WERE SO HAPPY AND IT WAS LIKE JOYFUL. SO THEY’RE LIKE, YOU’RE BACK AND THEY’RE HAPPY AND THEY’RE BUYING BOOKS. IT’S FUN, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT’S LIKE A TREASURE HUNT WHEN YOU GO IN THERE, ESPECIALLY A IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR. BUT B, IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMETHING LIKE YOUR BOOK COLLECTIONS, YOU’RE LIKE, IT’S HERE, THIS IS GREAT. SO TELL PEOPLE AGAIN, IT STARTS ON WEDNESDAY.
