Pundit Predicts Losing Record Through Week 5; Estimates 10 or Fewer Wins

The Ravens have a raucous begin to the 2024 NFL season, dealing with the reigning Super Bowl champs, and three playoff expectants. Enough in order that The Athletic’s Vic Tafur is predicting the Ravens to have a shedding file by Week 5.

“They open on the Chiefs, vs. the Raiders, on the Cowboys, vs. the Bills and on the Bengals, so it is laborious to see all the brand new items coming collectively and beginning with a 3-2 file,” Tafur wrote.

Losing three video games early within the season is not frequent for the Ravens. Since the beginning of Head Coach John Harbaugh’s tenure, the Ravens are 35-18 within the month of September. Only twice within the Harbaugh period have the Ravens gone 2-3 or worse (2008, 2015). And since quarterback Lamar Jackson turned the starter, they’ve by no means been underneath 3-2 after Week 5.

But stranger than Tafur’s Week 5 prediction is his reasoning. According to Tafur, the Ravens are rebuilding way over simply the offensive line.

“We’ve coated how the Ravens can have slightly extra bounce to their step due to the schedule-makers,” Tafur wrote. “But they’ll want it, as they’ve extra work to do, changing most of their offensive line, linebackers and full secondary.”

The Ravens are rebuilding their offensive line. But their linebacker unit includes changing Patrick Queen with expectant up-and-comer Trenton Simpson and the one huge loss at exterior linebacker is Jadeveon Clowney. Their total secondary unit is not being changed, with all starters from 2023 returning.

Tafur’s prediction included estimating the Ravens to win fewer than 11.5 video games in 2024 after successful 13 final season.
