LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool says its former captain Alan Hansen is critically ailing in hospital.

The Premier League membership is offering help to the household of the 68-year-old former Scotland worldwide, who retired in 1991 to start out a profitable profession as a tv pundit.

“The ideas and help of everybody at Liverpool FC are with our legendary former captain Alan Hansen, who’s at the moment critically ailing in hospital,” Liverpool said in a statement on Sunday.

“The membership is at the moment involved with Alan’s household to supply our help at this troublesome time, and our ideas, needs and hopes are with Alan and the entire Hansen household.

“We will present any additional updates as we obtain them in the end, and we request that the Hansen household’s privateness is revered presently.”

Hansen joined Liverpool from Scottish crew Partick Thistle in 1977. The defender gained three European Cups, eight league titles, two FA Cups and three League Cups in 620 appearances for Liverpool.
